The Gondwana Rainforests of Australia, also known as the Central Eastern Rainforest Reserves or CERRA, make up the largest area of subtropical rainforest in the world. The reserve includes around 50 separate reserves totalling 3,665 square km.
Fossil records show that when the super-continent of Gondwana existed it was covered by rainforests containing the same kinds of species that are living in these rainforests today.
